Our Staff

Johnna Knoerr - Director

As parents one of the most satisfying feelings is knowing that our children are growing and happy in their school environment. The Whitefish Community School has provided this comfort for both my children. As parents we value the way the curriculum is integrated and reinforced through art, music, creative play, sensory hands-on activities and technology. Another important life lesson my children are seeing outside their home environment is healthy eating at school

Johnna was born and raised in Missoula, MT, and recently moved to the Flathead Valley after living in several different states across the country.  She earned a Bachelor's degree in Psychology from Concordia College in Moorhead, MN, and then went on to earn a Master of Social Work degree from the University of Montana in Missoula. Johnna has experience running nonprofit programs and working with children and families from diverse backgrounds. She loves spending time with her family, friends, and her cute dog, Oscar.

"I'm so grateful to be a part of this school community. The parents, families, kids, and staff are dedicated to making this a wonderful place for children to learn, explore, and create lifelong friendships.”

Hailey Mortensen - Lead Teacher

Hailey was born in Kirkland, Washington but has lived in Whitefish since kindergarten. Growing up she was active in sports and always loved the outdoors. In the summer you can find Hailey floating the river, fly fishing, and enjoying our beautiful valley. In 2016 she graduated from FVCC with a degree in early childhood education and will be pursuing her bachelor’s degree with a specialty in early childhood education.

“I am so excited to be working at Whitefish Community School. I feel very lucky to be a part of the healthy and nurturing atmosphere of the school.”

MOLLY SQUIRES – MORNING ASSISTANT TEACHER

Molly lives in Columbia Falls with her husband and daughter. She loves to draw, write poetry and scrapbook, and she adores kids - working with them is her passion! She’s been a teacher for 8 years and I has had the pleasure of working here at WFCS for almost 5 of those years.

“I love the nurturing feeling of the school. Its always felt like my second home. The kids are so special! Teaching is such a blessing. Seeing them learn and grow makes it all worth it. I enjoy the staff and parents. What a great place! I’m very thankful to be here”.
